Hi all,

just a few arguments and ideas about the WC and Backgammon.

1. Why limit the WC only to Europe and US, its called the "World Championship",

so it should realy travel around the world, there a many nice places. And btw,

Backgammon is in Europe and US a minority sport, Chess, Poker ... are much more

popular there then Backgammon.

2. There has to be done something about the price pool for the WC. Its a joke

how much the WC gets this year, no surprise that many Backgammon player moved to poker.

For a WC-Title the minimum Price should be at least 250.000 or higher.

3. There is a World champion ship going on and no real reports, no live coverage, no media,

come on this is joke, how will you attract more player, when most of the Backgammon players

in the World dont know there exists a WC for Backgammon.

Well iam living in Germany, and i stayed every year in July in south france for a couple of weeks

since 1991 till 2004. I didnt even know that there is a WC in Monaco, if i would know or there

where information i would have taken part every year just for fun, even if i would be a fish there.

In Backgammon we have a big defizit about Information.

4. Take a look for example at greek and turkey, they have been done some work to bring

the international tournament rules and formats, and it works, most of their local tournaments

have more players then our international Tourneys, in these countrys is a big potential for new

players for the international tourneys. And there are a lot of more countrys where Backgammon is

much more popular then in Europe or Us.

5. We have a few organisations which organise the live tourneys, and they do a nice job, but the

problem is they can not handle it alone, there has to be a big organisation above them worldwide,

which promote and lead Backgammon in the right direction. For example the WC should be not

organised by one small group, instead there should be something like a WC Commitee, where all the

small organisations are represented, and which runs the WC. And imagine the power and influence of

a big organisation where all small and local are united, they have when they making deals about

added Money, Advertisment, Hotels and so on. Well just iamgine they make deals about Advertisment,

and they can offer the companys that their Ads are available worldwide at any Live Tournament.

This is maybe a way to come to big Added Money in Tourney. More Money means more Player, more

Player means more media and sooooo onnn.

6. There should be a record of every match played at live tourney ( at least, open, champion, master devisions). The record should be made public for free to the people on the web.

The reason for this is, we dont have an objective Ranking for players.

We have the giant list, but i think its not accurate way that a few TDīs vote for some players.

Backgammon needs an real Ranking list with objective criterias, why a player has this rank.

The most important point is the average Error rate a players has in the live tourneys, thats

the reason why the games must be recorded and made public. Also important and weighted for the

ranking should be the Tourneys the player has played (ranking in this tr), and the amount of tourneys he has played.

And its not enough to change the list all 4 years, it should be made every year new, where all

Players start again. There is also the possibility to give the top 10 or 5 or 3 a price, for

reaching the top.

More important is that all players have the chance to join the list and reaching also the top

of the list depending on their performance, and they can see the reasons why they are at that

Ranking. Sorry to say something about the Giant list, but its just a list for insider, not open

to the wide range of players, and very difficult to enter for new players.

English is not my first language, so excuse me if i made some errors in the text.
