They definitely profile on luggage quality. I used to carry these old duffel bags handed down from my parents, and I got the little notice from Homeland Security every time. Now I've upgraded to a nice Samsonite wheely thing and they leave me alone.

In the days immediately following September 11, I flew a lot for business and I met the profiling criteria. I was a youngish guy flying by himself in first class. I got wanded every single time I flew during 2002...
