I can see the eyes rolling in a lot of readers heads -- the ones who don't think any of this stuff is necessary.

It is true that no matter what the 'solution' there will be resourceful cheaters who have the ability to override. However, the impetus should be to make is SO DIFFICULT to override that it won't be worth their trouble. At the same time you don't want to make the solution expensive, bulky, etc. else directors and players alike will be against them.

It's a tricky balance.
