The better White's board gets the tougher it is to play loosely (for the g). Here, after 6/1*, you don't have a comfortable 3 to play (not that one alternative -- 13/5 -- looks super-safe for the future).

I wonder about 3(2). If White's board were worse that might tempt me more than it does here. Is White really too scared to hit with and ace after this play?
