Poker on tv is an ok learning tool, but when beginning your poker career I don't think I'd recommend it. TV shows the highlight hands, gives people the wrong impression about the actual grind that's going on. It may help with the percentages and realizing what people may play in certain positions, but be very careful with spoonfuls of poker tv, & make sure you're watching the right players to begin with! [on one channel they show tourneys where I swear the players play about as well as I did when I was 7 years old]
Super System was a great book at the time it was released, like Magriel's backgammon. The first great book in a time where the game wasn't understood by many. Aside from that I really can't say there have been any enlightening/great books. I'd go as far as saying there should be a separate book written for every limit in hold'em. I'd also note that [though I haven't looked] there are no decent books for the newer games, like 2-7 triple draw :) I do appreciate that though ...
