Is there evidence that {12, 0.24} is better than WC = {8, 0.16}?

I for one hate dialing my own settings with GNU-bg since I've seen so many screw it up. It would be interesting to even see just some timing tests -- run 1296 on the same comp and same position for the three different settings (or four, including Jason's) and see how long they take.

I'm guessing someone has done at least part of this, e.g. WC vs. Supremo.
