Interesting. I can (in retrospect) see a couple reasons for 17/14, 15/13 as opposed to the hitting play:

A) With the hitting play you now have the 15-point which you don't want (and will have trouble clearing).

B) The blot in your homeboard is in a non-threatening location. Pushing it back deeper could make things worse.

I am constantly reminded how DMP can be quite different from $-like scores.
