So you trust a tube manufacturer, even though it could be potentially be a forged one...

Kinda like you trust a $100 bill when it could potentially be a forged one, or precision dice for that matter.

...instead of dice produced by a neutral party on the spot...

Dice which could potentially be switched out when you're not looking, even before you choose them (as well as after).

...and don't mind that one small chip in a die means the entire mechanism is now essentially useless?

What's the probability of a die getting chipped in such a device? Of course it will depend upon the materials. But the people making these are well aware of the possibility of damaging the dice so they won't be choosing those materials at random.

I suspect if you were really concerned you could buy an insurance policy (equal to "extended warranty").

Just like BG, we're talking risk analysis on all fronts.
