I'm not sure what bet you are offering. Are you are betting that I will only win $1k if I take the money? If so, I have no way of knowing what the odds are of there being a check. It could be 1 in a zillion. Or it could be 90%. I'd have no basis for making the bet.

But if I did bet, I'd take the same odds on the million whether or not I took the 1k. Unless there is the possibility of some sleight of hand, which of course there would be.

Or we could bet on whether the cat would land on its feet if thrown 6 feet in the air.
