Your mod was to reduce the race for both sides by 5 pips. I kept the race the same. In fact I kept White's position the same, moved one black checker from the 1-point back to the 6-point and (similarly to you) one from the midpoint down to the 8-point.
In my case White has the same amount of work to do as in the original position. Blue has less work to do because of the advancement of one checker.
I'm wondering if, when White gets a shot in my mod, s/he's not quite (board-)ready.
