Joe, you summed this argument up perfectly. The only thing I would add is that these devices not only protect us from cheaters, but they also make us feel more "comfortable" about playing with everyone.

With baffle boxes and rollers I don't have to worry about how much my opponent shakes his dice, and I don't have to worry about showing everyone I shake my own dice hard after I roll a great roll (just to prove I'm not trying to take an advantage on them). I don't have to worry about those sloppy players who are always rolling off the board, or always rolling too hard so that their dice often land on top of the checkers. I don't have to worry as much about cocked dice and having to worry about someone saying their dice were cocked when they were not.

It's not just about cheating....it's about improving the pleasure of playing, and once players try these devices and get used to them, I believe most will agree.
