Any opponent who agrees to play legal moves with me before the match will play legal moves during the match. If an illegal move comes up and we are both aware of it and he tries to allow it to stand maybe the director will rule in his favor that the illegal move stands, at that point I couldn't give a shit less, not sure how he's going to finish the match out with a knife in his chest.
As for taking the chance you'll make less legal moves than your opponent to get an edge - I think that's a horseshit reason to take cheap shots during the game. I'm positive that it's negative equity for me to play legal moves. I'm sure I make less legal moves than 99.5% of the bg population simply because I'm young and attentive to the positions at hand, calling it part of the skill involved keeps it more in the basement or back of a pool hall kind of atmosphere.
