First off, I'll repeat what I said to you in Madison and here on this forum: I trust that you have done your homework studying many possible scenarios. On top of that it's your (plural) tournament. You must do what you think is best, not what some disgruntled player might think is best because THIS time he got a "bad deal" (lack of bye or whatever). BTW, I don't think that happened this year but I've seen it happen in Indy at least once.

Having said that, and I preface my next remark by saying I'm not much of a hedger, but I don't think the lack of hedging opportunities should play much of a role in the decision of if and when to go to from Swiss to binary elimination. I'm sure you will get whiners, but I don't think you can prevent that no matter what kind of tournament format (straight KO, combination Swiss+KO, full Swiss) you run.

Very well run tournament. It shows you four (and maybe I'll give Sam an honorary membership :) really thought things through beforehand.
