If we played BG with a baffle tube and touch move and a clock...

The baffle box is lined with a textured cloth, almost like a sandpaper, that "grabs" the dice and ensures they tumble, but it is not noisy at all.
The tubes we displayed were poorly constructed, and all of the problems mentioned can be easily remedied. I think it's pretty clear that the tubes are something that would only be used if both players like it, and most players simply like to shake and roll those dice and don't want to give that up. I think most can be convinced to use baffle boxes in time, as they still get to shake and roll, but without the cocked dice and dice off the table and fear of lack of shaking etc. etc. etc.
So I can see baffle boxes becoming popular and maybe even standard equipment some day, but I am not about to spend a lot of time, effort, or money trying to perfect the tube right now since it is not likely that many players or directors are going to endorse it. It's just not worth the effort right now. I think a few more people need to get personally cheated, or have close friends get cheated, to start caring enough to protect ourselves and everyone else.
And as Joe Russell eloquently pointed out, it's not just about cheating...it's about feeling a lot more comfortable about playing and enjoying the game more. That's his opinion, and Ed's, and mine, and many others, but there are still too many who don't agree, or haven't given baffle boxes a try yet and have seen how pleasant it is to use.
It takes time and patience to make change, and contrary to comments made by Ray that I am "pushing" my views on people, I really am simply making suggestions and stating a case that I think is an improvement to the game.
I will make my, and other baffle boxes more visible and available and encourage people to try them and hopefully, in time, more and more people will agree and go with it. If not, I certainly have other causes in my life that take precedence...like learning how to 6-2 on the second roll of the game.
