How long did it take people to accept seat belts? Many still hate them.

It took my mother 10 years to go to a push button phone...she was "comfortable" with the rotary dial...she only changed because her phone broke and she couldn't find a rotary dial. (Her arguments as to why a rotary dial is better than push button are very similar to those I hear about why rolling with a cup on to the board is so much better than rolling with a cup into a baffle box and then on to the board.) My mother said the push button phone took away from her enjoyment of making phone calls.

Seat belts take away from my enjoyment of driving.....it is much harder for me to play backgammon with someone in the back seat while I'm driving when I'm wearing that damn belt!
