I can't comment on XG.
When Snowie says "cubeless" it means specifically "cubeless money game", i.e. a game played with no cube anywere, and gammons (backgammons) counting twice (thrice).
Snowie's "cubeful" is its method of computing a cubeful equity based solely on a "cubeless" rollout and an Janowski (-like) adjustment.
Snowie's "live cube" equity is a result of a rollout where the cube is in play, similar to how it would be used by two humans over a board.
In GNU-bg there is no equivalent of SW's "cubeful". GNU-bg's "cubeful" is the same as SW's "live cube".
GNU-bg's "cubeless" rollout is NOT the same as Snowie's -- correct. GNU is playing according to the score with the cube LOCKED in position for the remainder of the game where it is currently (at the beginning of the rollout). So it is making its checkerplay decisions with knowledge of both the cube location and the fact that it will always stay in that location.
BTW, I've never looked at the GNU-bg source code so I could be wrong. These are just my conclusions based on many years of observations of rollouts (and input from others whom, because of memory loss, I can no longer name).
