Based on a discussion I had with Matt R. over the weekend, I don't understand this. If XGRoller actually does a 'short' rollout to make up it's mind on what to play, how can you guarantee every rollout (of that position) will give the same result? (I guess XGRoller would have to use the SAME seed EVERY TIME no matter what the position/situation. Is that right?)

Yes, that's close to the way it works. However the seed is determined from a hash of the position (initial position in case of a checker play so that all the choices analyzed use the same seed) so it a different one for every position.

The seed setting for rollout is ignore so it does not influence the result (for regular Rollout the hash is still used but it adds the user defined seed to it).

Note that it means that a XGRoller analyze of the cube position will use a different seed than the checker play that lead to the position, so the results will be slightly different.
