Thanks. I just reread Max's original to realize I missed the point of verifiability.

But there's still a potential problem, and it has to do with the good news (well known algorithm) and the bad new (well known algorithm).

In the early 70's a group of nerds built (pocket) computers which could count the cards at blackjack and adjust the playing strategy (or is it tactics?). They entered the cards with their toes and (if I recall) received tactile signals on how to play. That was >35 years ago.

So, my clock/roller device plays ET and phones home with opp's dice seed. It then tells me with signals (little toe is 1, middle toes is 2, big toe is 3, ankle is 4, knee is 5, thigh is 6) what each die of the next roll reads.

In the 21st century of wireless internet (and, uh, celphones??) it wouldn't be terribly expensive to build such a communication device. (It only stays online long enough to get the seed, so I think room-wide wifi would have to be pretty sophisticated to pick it up, and if you turned down the gain of the transmitter it would likely be extremely difficult to even pick up the signal unless any receiver were close by, e.g. in the cheater's pocket.)

As with online (bot help) cheating you'd be an idiot to use the knowledge of the dice on every play or even most plays. Just wait for opp's critical shot.
