I really think the break-even point comes down to how much trouble a person will go to in order to cheat. If it were for high stakes $-play (as happens) then the answer is "a long way". If it's for a weekend tournament (in the US and maybe even in Europe with the higher payouts) it isn't worth a Herculean effort.

A few hundred $? A few thousand $?
