After your post and Chiva's I have second thoughts about #1. Undoubtably there are those that would argue the contributions to the game beyond playing ability should be excluded from consideration but I like the idea of the total package the way you described it with one exception. I wouldn't suggest online play specifically because it is tainted with the possibility of cheating, but certainly one could consider it.
In this context, I now reverse my position on #1, as I would consider the side play I have seen in Monte Carlo between Sanders and Falafel and Falafel and Mochy as significant.
I am therefore eliminating #1 from my list and adding #5 along your lines:
5. ALL of a players attributes and capabilities and contributions to the game should be considered as part of the total package for VOTING. That would include analytical skills, depth of knowledge of the game, lectures, and published writings online or in print media.
