I'm not sure how it's phrased on the ballot but that's all I have to go on for now. I will tell you that personally some people will not be receiving a vote from me due to their lack of recent activity in live play. After Vegas I will be publicly putting forth my list and noting anyone who I may have excluded due to inactivity.
I would prefer a cut in stone definition for 'active' but I am not naive enough to think that will happen or even if the general populous tried to make it happen all involved would agree upon one definition.
I would not eliminate side play from consideration. I don't like taking into account many player's online play for many many reasons I won't go into now, but side action, if witnessed or known, seems fair to include when making a decision on the person's right to be included.
3. Require voters to have seen all of their choices play, or seen recorded games of these players.
If that was true there would be a handful of Americans who could vote for European players and the inverse would also hold true. Do you really want you, myself, Carter, UBK, and Ed O'laughlin deciding who makes the European cut and Falafel being the sole truly qualified to vote for the American side of the coin? Seeing recorded matches if not having witnessed the match live is often a complete waste also..but that's another story.
I have a better idea of the list I'd like to see but it will have to wait til at least 2010. The Giants list is entertaining for what it's worth, no more, no less.
