Giant 32 Criteria

In Response To: Giant 32 Criteria (Jake Jacobs)

I will not name the players that I won't be voting for.

I will be voting for players who live up to each of the following criteria:

A) Are active. Being active means attending tournaments or playing high stakes money games or making a living playing online gammon. I put an emphasis on tournament participation but a former tournament player with great results who now only plays high stakes money games would still be active in my book if that player welcomes any comers at any stake.

B) Has achieved tangible results. In order to get my vote a player must have won something or at least finished in the money a number of times. If a player is winning a lot, then this is a MAJOR consideration. Needles to say that players like Tabolt, Mochy, Fogerlund or Salamzy fit this bill.

C) Plays consistently at very low ERs. Everyone can play a 1 or 2 from time to time. The true champs very rarely play above a 4. Consistency is the key in my book.

If a player fails to live up to any of these 3 criteria, then that player will not be getting my vote.

Having written great books or articles will earn the player bonus points in my book. But only bonus points.

I believe that the giants list is about who are the most feared players. Personally I fear players who have won and are still winning. I don't fear players who think they should be winning. Hence, tangible results mean more to me than low ERs.
