Giant 32 Criteria

Stick: I would prefer a cut in stone definition for 'active' but I am not naive enough to think that will happen or even if the general populous tried to make it happen all involved would agree upon one definition.
Isn’t a half a loaf better than none? From my perspective any inactive player that is eliminated likely results in more votes for active players. It doesn’t seem to be too tough a chore for someone privy to tournament results and networks with other directors.
I changed my mind and now favor side play after seeing some comments on this subject.
Stick:If that was true there would be a handful of Americans who could vote for European players and the inverse would also hold true. Do you really want you, myself, Carter, UBK, and Ed O'laughlin deciding who makes the European cut and Falafel being the sole truly qualified to vote for the American side of the coin?
The answer is YES although there is a small number of additional names I would add to the names you have. But, no need to be in this position if the active European BG associations and directors were brought into the process. You know in Denmark, Germany and the U.K there are players deserving to be considered that are not known in the US. Why leave out the Japanese incidentally? I only know the 2 M. hotshots that play internationally but i understand there are several other extremely strong players there that don't.
In principle going by reputation rather than doing your own evaluation of matches is abysmal to me. However, that would take a radical overhaul of what is in place or require a newly organized poll, so for this year I cave and agree we should just push for the do-able.
But I can't help mentioning, if I had my druthers, I would like to see the top 16 Giants only, vote on the Giants, and make eligibllty to being a Giant having a minimum designated number of matches recorded and open to public access.
