The real issue with kibs shouting out

Have you ever played either matches or money games with someone from a foreign country, who had a bevy of countrymen with him who spoke little or no English, but are clearly on his side? What might they do if permitted to call out what happened unbidden? I've been in both those situations, and I'm glad those kibs weren't allowed to comment directly about the game. (From the tone and the gestures, plus the 6 or 7 words I could understand here and there, they were not.)

I'm all for allowing a kib to make the call in a match only in the case of a dispute if the players both agree, and have permitted or requested this when the kib was someone I trusted. If there is no dispute, the last thing on my mind is opening the door to one by letting a kib put his two cents worth in, when maybe he's the one who misread the dice, who knows? What I would let a kib do, though: point out a discrepancy between the two players' scoresheets, a fallen flag, or a wrong play-to.

In a typical chouette, there is usually no issue of mistrust, because the kib is either another player in the game or a mutual friend of people in the group. Everyone will usually agree to let such an observer make the call, and might as well give him a blank check from the start if they choose. For the case of chouette when "legal moves" is in force, then you are generally allowing outside players, including ones out of the game in progress, to make the call anyway. Extending this privilege to a kib you all know isn't much of a leap.
