High stakes gammon

Everyone knows that Gus is a great player, but the amount he is willing to play for is not the measure of his skill, and that alone does not qualify him as a giant.
I have played a lot of heads up money play in my time, and I can tell you, it is tedious. You really have to grind it out, and the difference of who wins is usually decided in one or two big swing games or situations where a joker or two might well have been the difference, or one bad take or cube decision makes the entire day. It truly is far less a test of skill than match play, and it is a different kind of skill from match play....the bigger the stakes, the more it is a test of guts (just like high stakes poker).
EVEN IF Gus had plenty of takers and had a great record, that record would not qualify him as a Giant, which really is supposed to be a test of match play. Again, money play is a different animal both in terms of actual strategy and in terms of the "guts" factor. And the higher the stakes the less money play resembles match play.
