That quote is absolutely false. The FM board is similar, with several improvements. The surface is different and looks different. The pips are of a different material. The joints are different and tighter. The FM board does not have the beaded inlay that most Taki boards have. The handles are thicker and heavier, and the hardware is different.

The FM board is heavier (to some that might be a negative, but others might enjoy that it is more solid).

The checkers are different...different size and look, and the tray that holds them is therefore smaller and there are side compartments to hold dice that Taki boards don't have.

But they are the same size and both made out of wood, so you could say they are exactly the same, just as you can say a Mercedes and a Chevy are exactly the same as they both have four wheels and are made of steel and are about the same size and weight.
