Taki Board Copy

It was wrong for me to say "BY INTENT". I am not in a position to know what the FM board creator intended. It is only my opinion that he intended to create a board that substantially had the look and feel of a Taki board.

There are two flavors of boards shown on the fmgammon site. The one with the orange points has somewhat less of a resemblance to a Taki board, and the other board has more. The closer looking one is the one that Phil had available for inspection in Madison.

Phil had told me that the FM board creator had told him something like that he wanted to build the best board possible and asked what board Phil thought was the best board on the market. Phil responded that he liked the Taki board. The FM board maker acquired a Taki board for himself (I guess you can get them shipped to Turkey) and what we now see is a new product that looks substantially the same as a Taki board. In addition to the rounded points is the rounded checker trays and the routing of the wood around the inside board perimeter that to me at least are other parts of the distinctive look of a Taki board. As Taki boards themselves have variability in details (e.g. some have beading, some don't), there is obviously not just a single look, but they are all unmistakably Taki. Everyone is free to draw their own conclusions on whether this striking resemblance between the FM board and the Taki "family" was intentional or not.

I imagine that had nobody known Phil had the FM board, the vast majority of people in Madison who's name is not Tak that passed by Phil's board would have simply assumed it was a Taki board. Only on closer inspection do you see the differences in details (and improvements).
