When White hits back (13 rolls after 7/2* and 14 rolls after 6/1*) it seems much better to have played 7/2* since the blot left on the barpoint after 6/1* is a huge target.

When White fails to hit AND his roll includes a six (9 rolls) then it appears to me as though the advantage is in favor of 6/1*.

If White misses while entering both (14 and 13 rolls respectively?), it's not at all clear to me (OK, really depends upon exactly where the two checkers entered) -- call that a tossup. A full 2-ply analysis of these would be best....

If these observations/predictions (particularly if Sam doesn't catch me in a miscount) are correct, 7/2* looks better.
