Open Player Survey Conclusion

Thank you all for your feedback. Most insightful. If most great players do not crunch the numbers most of the time, then most of the cube decisions are made as a result of experience, reference positions, and estimating the wins/losses/gammons as values such as "a lot of wins" or "too many gammons" etc. Obviously this works, as most of you are making the correct decisions most of the time.
My problem is that in teaching intermediate players, their lack of reference positions, experience and skill makes this approach far less likely to lead to the right cube decision. I cannot give them experience, only methodology, and I have been teaching that making some kind of guess at the numbers, no matter how far off, is better than not making any guess at all.
I will have to give this more thought, but in the meantime, I appreciate the feedback, and I feel less "guilty" about not crunching the numbers as much as I thought I should be doing myself.
