Rich...thanks for your comments. I, too, had coaching from Steve ("the rat") when he was living in Minneapolis, and you are correct...one reason he was such a great teacher is he worked with everyone realistically based on their skills. He was a great player, himself, and no where near a fast or hard a hitter as most of the pros.
And I see your point. Most of us don't have the I.Q. and memories, not to mention the gaming skills of the giants, but we can become reasonable players with reasonable strategies and study.
This study has convinced me NOT to push the estimating of wins, losses and gammons as much as I have...though understanding those elements is important. I use, religiously, Robertie's definition of market losers to help decide when to double, and I use, religiously, the MCV taught to me by Perry to try to picture where the game will be in a roll or two.
