Didn't mean to start an inquisition. And I don't want to go into details of where my suspicion comes from since it might implicate some innocent people. As far as implicating the guilty, since I can't actually "prove" it beyond a shadow of a doubt, it's a hollow accusation to begin with.
I'm not going to get into a guessing game here so please don't start. Suffice it to say that it is a VERY SMALL number of people and no one who posts here on bgonline.
As far as if it's OK or not, I strongly believe it is dishonest/unethical and analogous to plagiarism. If you have an independent idea (whether or not someone else had that idea) then fine. If you get someone else's opinion (including a bot) and then DON'T give that person/bot the credit, pretending that it is your own idea, then, IMO, you are being dishonest. It's that simple. Even if you have an idea and check it with a person/bot, you should still say so. The point here is that there is the potential of "selective memory" affecting your conclusion. Would you have posted the idea if the bot hadn't confirmed your idea? If you answer is 'yes' then you should post your idea first and check the bot later. That's the clean and reliable way to make sure you're not being unfairly influenced.
Just because we believe we don't fool ourselves doesn't mean we don't.
