What do you mean when you say that "owning the 11 point seems to somehow matter here"?

Meaning that GNU does not prefer the loose hit if you don't have an outside point. I don't know why.

It also occurred to me that maybe I should try moving White's anchor forward or backward one unit to see if that makes any difference.

I looked at this, it does not on the evals.
