Factors for Tournament Attendance?

Most factors have been noted already.

1) size and quality of field -- I prefer larger and stronger fields 2) scheduling -- in relation to other tourneys, holidays, weather, etc. 3) play scheduling -- director aware of delays and causes for delays, keeps it moving so one is not waiting forever for matches nor playing far into the night 4) format -- Swiss and double eliminations variations preferred, progressive consolation and/or last chance so one doesn't sit around forever if flushed out early 5) location -- nice if weekend tournament is near airport, and easy place to fly; if longer tournament nice if in a good tourist city or area and/or some place I've not been before --- discussions of Charleston and Santa Fe, as examples, tourneys interest me 6) mandatory clocks 7) staff -- knowledge, attentiveness, responsiveness, social skills 8) playing venue -- adequate space 9) amenities -- hospitality; restaurants close by 10) hotel -- nice and reasonably priced
