Factors for Tournament Attendance?

I think the natural selection process will resolve such conflicts.

Perhaps there would be overall increased attendance if there were more tourneys and they were more regionally distributed. I'm sure more tourneys in the west would attract more players. So what if they're competing tourneys in San Francisco and Boston on the same weekend or consecutive weekends (as hypotheticals)? There would likely be little overlapping participation regardless, and with two tourneys more players are served.

The few larger tourneys would still attract a national participation -- as Michigan, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Vegas do now -- but I see no reason to limit the number of tourneys. I thought we want to expand the game.
