Factors for Tournament Attendance?

I agree, in such a scheme, a new event should get a guarantee of two years. The first year attendees that do show up can give their impressions. Hopefully if positive, more people will attend the next time. If negative, the event deserves to die.

Anyway, I don't have a major problem with the current system. But given the choice, I personally would rather see fewer but larger events of higher average quality (based on all the criteria that various people have mentioned) than to see 16 player events every weekend on the calendar.
