Common Errors?

My rule of thumb: if you have a single die to play and can take a checker off, it is always right to do so. Yes, the rule has exceptions, but any time you think the current position will be an exception, you're probably wrong. Best to always just take the checker off. The "bear off an ace rule" has no exceptions, however.
And the bear-in with a closed board and a checker on the bar. I see intermediates deliberate over whether to bring the last checker in and be odd and awkard on the high points or to leave the checker outside and move a spare inside the board.
Always bring the checker in.
