There is a lot of potential in creating school rivalries. If you get two or more schools with Backgammon teams that can compete against each other, that would be far better than one school with a program. Backgammon is ideal for these rivalries since the stronger team will not always win. Compare this to Chess or Go where upsets will be few and far between.
Lopsided results are a problem for games like Chess. You have to continually bring in more patzers since the players at the bottom inevitably drop out. Backgammon is a much better game in this respect. Everyone gets their chance to win sometimes. Backgammon is excellent for a scholastic environment.
