Coincidence!~? lol

Actually, I think neither coincidence nor correlation. I'd credit the well-known "Carlsberg Cup" -- a late winter multi-weekend tournament that took place in hundreds of bars and cafes across Denmark -- for helping to promote DBgF in its early years. But Carlsberg ended its sponsorship in 1997 or 1998, I believe, while DBgF membership continued to grow for a few years after that, and the renamed "Cafe Tournament" sans Carlsberg also continued with other sponsors, with fewer venues but still numbering in the hundreds.
