Arent we allowed to be a little superstitious?
I fully understand how the dice are unaffected etc, but I really cant help myself when it comes to requesting a dice mix up. I think it helps me mentally to stay the road when enduring unpleasant dice. Although it is a rare event that I ask for a change mid match.
The dice change in my mind allows for a little nod to the unknown, and to grant just a little courtesy to the possibility that there may be a small chance that there is something to the dice. Giving them a really enthusiastic shake when rolling is also a nod in that direction.
So, my personal response is: I understand completely. However, for my own sanity, I may need to occasionally request a mix up. I also have some quirky ideas regarding who's board I play on. At the last Madison tournament, I won all but one match that I played on my own board (something like 10-1 on my board, and 0-4 on others: Rich, Neil, Jeb, John O - oh, and I wasnt playing any slouches on my board either - Paul W, MCG, David R x2 to name but a few), and lost every single one that I played on anyone else's board. I cannot help but notice this statistically irrelevant fact.
