and... they compete for a cool million dollars.... Nice thought but a bit off-reality.

I have serious doubts that the same 10 people of each country can make enough time to compete of different gatherings in different places around the globe the same year. Even a team of 5 would be too optimistic to believe.

Starting on a smaller scale, it would be fun to see the local country where the tournament takes place (more likely to have 5 or 10 local players) to compete against a "world" selection (5 or 10 non-locals should be no problem at an international tournament).

If the Danes want to challenge the US-players, the French Open would be an ideal place, since some big names and recent winners of backgammon from the USA will be on the spot (in no specific ranking order: Stick, MCG, Grunwald, Fogerlund, Gartner, O´Hagan, Casty, Wachtel, Mattig, Nunyiants, Hodis, etc.).

Make a selection of 5 vs 5, each player throws 250€ in the pot, I´ll add 500€, there will be a draw for the pairing, 7-point match, clocked, the team to reach 3 victories wins it all. To take place October 30th, at 4:30 pm.
