Swiss format: Draws could make it interesting!

In Response To: Wisconsin Backgammon Championship Tournament format (Mislav Radica)

A draw (tie) in chess is worth 1/2 a point. These 1/2 points can actually make the outcome of the tournament very interesting.

If we do a swiss format backgammon tournament, I think it would be interesting to have draws, worth 1/2 point, whenever the match comes down to DMP (DMP would have to be specifically defined, of course).

For example, if one and only one player is 7-0, and his opponent is 6-1, he would do anything he could to get the match to DMP, winning 1/2 point and the tournament.
