In Response To: Wisconsin Backgammon Championship Tournament format (adambulldog)

The basic format is this: we play 8 rounds of Swiss. Once you have three losses you can no longer win the main event but are still alive for the consolation consolation and once you have four losses you are out altogether.

Can you please try to explain this system?

Let's say you have 32 players.
After 5th round you have one player with 5-0, five players with 4-1, ten players with 3-2, ten with 2-3, five with 1-4 and one with 0-5. Who plays whom in 6th round? How to be sure that players didn't played against each other in earlier rounds?

And, if I'm thinking right, after 6th round there will be: (a) one player with 6-0, couple of them with 5-1, etc, or (b) no players with 6-0. (Same goes for bottom players with 1-5 and 0-6)
Does this make any problems to your system?
