By automatically pick do you mean something beyond do a random draw fr that upcoming round? I don't see much wrong with that. But if you want something more automatic something liek the following may work. Each player could be assigned a unique number at tournament start. The 5-0 player plays the first player after him on the list of the 4-1 players that he has not yet played.
