My goal of starting this thread was to come to a reccommended rule change with enough player support that we could get it adopted as a rule change for the US Backgammon Tournament Rules & Procedures for 2010.

After reading the responses and speaking with a few others it seems the most popular idea is to have the rule state in some form or another that if a match is played to any point length longer than what should have been and the match reaches a conclusion than the result stands. If the error is realized before the match is concluded and caught early (my suggestion is that both players be at leat 5-away) then the match is played to the correct length, if either player is 4-away or less then the match is played to the aggreed upon length.

It seems that there should also be a rule change/re-wording regarding capricious use of the cube. What other rules need to be changed. I suggest we BGOers put a list together and submit them to the powers that be before the end of the year.
