Wisconsin Backgammon Championship Tournament format

The old Memorial Day Chicago event had all players stay in thru the first 8 rounds. Three losses or less and you stayed in for a playoff. If you lost 4 times, you were paid a small sum ($10 or $20) for each win you accumulated, but only if you played all eight.

There were still a significant number of drop-outs, so the year I played Advanced I was paid $20 for "winning" two forfeits.

I agree with Jason. If the match has no bearing on equity, it can't be played correctly. Kind of like a chouette with no stake.
