The "this" I was referring to in the final paragraph was the Don't Sprain Your Brain rule from the previous paragraph, not the long-sequence variation. As a director I wouldn't permit even "this", never mind the long-sequence variation, in a match. I would especially not allow it in a clocked match, but not in an unclocked one either because of the possibility of somehow setting a mushy precedent.

However, if I found out from an observer that two players did this in an unclocked match, I wouldn't slap their paws over it. I would, however, note to my informant that what they did doesn't set a precedent; the default is play it straight; and caveat emptor if they try suggesting it with someone they don't know.
