DS - I have never seen a player in tournament cube when he knows he can't. This seems more incredible knowing the calibre of the players likely to be at this tournament. So I believe this player was taking a shot and should suffer some kind of penalty.

Frank - You may have never seen a player do this, but to say that it has never been done is something else. I can see where a player is so intuned to the game at hand that he forgets match score and mistakenly turns the cube. What is more important is how the trailor responded to being checked on his cube decision. Was the player apologetic realizing the mistake or was it simply blown off? An apology can end the whole thing and its game on. Blowing it off has a different type of game on which gets ugly.

I do believe it is unfair to lable the calibre of player for making an honest mistake. I play a lot online of long matches back to back and sometimes followit up with 1pt fun matches. There have been times I forgot I was playing 1pt match and cubed. I did not mean it to happen and in the case where my opp dropped (duh) I immediately conceded the match. Self imposed penalty.
