You guys are, in my opinion, missing the point. The bucks is just a way of keeping score. If you are playing a chouette and truly trying to get the highest score possible (bucks) it can be a very interesting intellectual exercise...every bit as complex and complicated as playing backgammon matches.

Knowing how to play your opponent; how to vary your cube and checker play according to who is across from you, who can consult if and when you cube, who you should take or drop in a given situation, IN ADDITION to all the normal considerations of basic backgammon, is extremely interesting.

We have people who play in our chouettes day after day that are so wealthy that winning or losing a couple of thousand dollars means nothing to them, but they are extremely intense and fighting to settle for a half a point on a 2 cube trying to make the best deal they can so they can stay up on the score sheet.

It's not just about the money...it truly is a fascinating, complex competition, and those of you who don't see that or understand that, or think that those of us who play chouette almost every day are doing it just for the money, simply are making a judgement about others that is not completely correct or fair.

I have played poker, hearts, gin rummy, bridge, and many other games for money, and on occasion, for some very big money, and I have yet to find anything as intellectually stimulating and exciting as chouette backgammon.
