Someone mentioned that Chiva didn't need to consult the committee for part of his ruling and while this may be true, he didn't necessarily need to, I think it's good that there's a TD who is willing to openly listen to the opinions of others even when it isn't strictly called for.
Chiva's personal opinion, which he posted and I deleted before anyone could really read it as to not influence the opinion of others, was the 'piece of shit' person should have received a penalty of some sorts. My take was that the cube action, while suspicious, was caught in the moment and it is entirely possible the person in question forgot. Unless I have some other reason to suspect the person cubed the Crawford game on purpose, they get the benefit of the doubt 100% so I put that in the back of my mind.
Calling someone a 'piece of shit' was over the line and deserved a penalty but the issue I had is what sort of penalty? Falafel for sure and Steen I believe who were both on the committee thought a penalty was too harsh and a strict warning was enough. I wanted to penalize the person, it's just bad form, but a time penalty is nearly no penalty at all at this point and penalty points seemed too severe so I tilted towards the warning they received. The end of the match was to be monitored, no talking whatsoever, and if the 'piece of shit' player stepped out of line again the rest of the tournament he would be disqualified regardless of where he was in the tournament and not invited back to any future tournaments.
