An ethics issue raised in Paris?

That's a great rules committee. Is there any doubt what that committee would have ruled if Ray had appealed to them? There is no doubt in my mind, given the description of what happened and given the way the rules are written, that the play was an illegal move that Ray and Sason had the option of accepting or not. This is not about good sportsmanship at all, it is simply a very specific rule with a very specific intent that should not be changed at the whim of a tournament director UNLESS there were extenuating circumstances that interfered with the flow of the game or other reasons to suspend the rules.
To me, good sportsmanship and fair play is holding myself and my opponents to the rules and accepting, graciously, any penalties I might suffer when I, or they, violate a rule.
